
Atonement's 75th Anniversary

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with gratitude for many blessings that we at Lutheran Church of the Atonement celebrate 75 years of God's grace and 70 years of learning through Atonement Lutheran School.

Our Committee is planning a series of events in the new year as scheduled below.

September 28, 2025
Atonement kicked-off its celebration year on September 28, 2025. This
festive day included a puppet show performed by students of Atonement Lutheran School and a reception after worship.

January 18, 2026
Pastor Kristen Koch will be returning to preach. She was our Associate Pastor 2009-2012. She is also a beloved daughter of our congregation and is a graduate of Atonement Lutheran School. Since serving at Atonement, she has been the pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and most recently has served both Shepherd of the Hill and Unity. Beginning December 15, she is serving in a new role as Director of Evangelical Mission as part of the Central States Synod staff.

February 15, 2026
The achievements of humans being launched into space, orbiting Earth, performing spacewalks, and walking on the Moon extended exploration, the Sixties are known as the "countercultural decade" in the United States and other Western countries. There was a revolution in social norms, including religion, morality, law and order, clothing, music, drugs, dress, sexuality, formalities, civil rights, precepts of military duty, and schooling. A wide range of music emerged, from popular music inspired by and including the Beatles (in the United States known as the British Invasion) to the folk music revival, including the poetic lyrics of Bob Dylan. In the United States the Sixties were also called the "cultural decade" while in the United Kingdom (especially London) it was called the Swinging Sixties.

March 22, 2026
Pastor Dan Johnson, who served as Associate Pastor from (date-date) will lead Sunday morning worship. The day will include a special live presentation highlighting the1970s and Atonement memorabilia from that time. A reception will follow worship.

April 19, 2026
We will celebrate the artistic gifts of Atonement Lutheran School students, the congregation, and other community members. Watch for details as they are finalized.

May 10, 2026
Atonement has been a member of the Lutheran High School Association since (year). The Lutheran North Choir will lead our singing during worship. Lutheran North alumni will enjoy this connecting with high school friends.

June 14, 2026
The day will include a special live presentation highlighting the 1950s and Atonement memorabilia from that time. A reception will follow worship.

July 12, 2026

In anticipation of the new school year, the congregation and school will picnic together. We’re looking forward to Men’s Club barbecue and other fun events. Watch for details as they are finalized.

The Big Event. Pastor Rick Mueller, Senior Pastor from 1990-2023, will
lead us in worship. A celebratory dinner will follow. Watch for details as they are finalized.
